WEEK 14 - La Semana Santa

Ok now I’m talking en English. So essentially the first day I came to Sealy, I met Anyerson his nine year old daughter, Kamila, and I knew they needed to be baptized. They had come to church before, his wife was a member, and they had the most powerful testimonies ever, yet they were unbaptized. We read Mosíah 18 with them and asked, “Que os impide ser bautizados?” which translated is, “what stops you from being baptized?” And Anyerson replied, with a smile, “Nada.” So, we gave them the date of April 21st, and now they’re so so so so excited to be baptized. Kamila wanted to be baptized the next day but we explained we need to prepare and that it is a big commitment.

We’ve been slowly working to reactivate members here in Sealy as well as establish a strong Spanish presence in the ward. Spanish speakers are the minority here, so it takes everything to try and strengthen their community. We’re pushing to present the idea of creating a group (one step down from a branch) so that our friends will be welcomed and our members will be able to go to church without headphone’d translation making them stick out more than they already are.

This week we also pushed so much to invite people to Church because of Easter and we ended up getting over 12 different people to church who were our friends which was huge. Like, never-before-seen numbers out here in the Boonies. So far, I’m loving the grind. I’m loving pushing back against every single roadblock there seems to be and fighting for the members and our friends to come unto Christ. It has been exceptional. One holy, miraculous week for Semana Santa.
