WEEK 15 - Some Thoughts From A Restless Mind
Because I missed sending out my email last week, you guys are getting fed today with not only a second email, but also some lackadaisical thoughts because I have not had a minute to think and these are the only things my turned-to-mush-because-of- over-exertion-and-under-slept- brain can think of and has thought of this week. Enjoy.
Water towers look like Minecraft mob spawn traps.
I just heard Astronaut in the Ocean and I haven't heard real music in so long I had to catch myself nodding to the bass, only because it was the first basa heavy song I’ve heard in so long. If that means I'm going to Hell, then I'm already burning. Update: I will now be posting real music on my FaceBook story so I am truly in Outer Darkness now.
What did we think about when we knew not our primary language or the formulation of words? And, is thought taught?
A drunk guy was insulting my religion and then I asked him what he believed in and he said he believed the earth was flat and that we’d never been to space so then I asked him if he knew where we lived (Houston) and then we walked away.
I had the prompting to show one of our friends (Isidoro) a picture of the Houston temple while he was explaining his history and lore, but it made no sense so I just sat there with a picture of a temple on my phone the entire time until I showed it to him and he instantly said he wanted to go. He wanted to go tomorrow. By the end of that conversation, after bearing testimony of temples and explaining that this place es la meta, he kept saying “bautizarme, bautizarme” so essentially he can be baptized in less than two weeks but we told him he needed to start reading the Book of Mormon everyday.
We had a fiesta after Conferencia General and I made carne asada. The Spanish members loved it. “Tan rico,” they said. One even asked for my recipe.
I did missionary work in Argentina today. Shoutout Isidoro for connecting us with his son who is not only a music producer but also a music video director. Update: we passed him off to some Hermanas in Argentina.
They really just kept zooming in on that one guy in General Conference, huh.
If my Mission President ever asks me, “what’s on your mind?” in an interview again, I promise I will have nothing to say. It’s like that phrase sucks every single thought I could possibly have out of my cerebellum; I hate it.
I will go to the Buc-ee’s outside of my mission’s boundaries if it is the last thing I do.
I almost Indiana Jones’d a train today on my bike. I didn’t because Elder Lawyer would have been sad. But, I totally could have.
The eclipse happened and the Anti-Christ came and Texas is now on fire, just thought you should all know.
Okay, I’m done. Hopefully this is kind of enjoyable. Ojalá. Although I may be the most tired I have ever been, I am still loving every second of the mission. Don’t worry guys!!! Thank you for all the emails and love you all. Stay safe and remember that Texas Houston South is the best mission in the world and if you want proof, look at the temple announcements from yesterday.
