WEEK 28 - El Huracán

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and will continue to reach out throughout the day. I can feel your love and can feel your prayers. As for us, we are doing okay. Actually, as I wrote that we just lost power so maybe not. But, I'm confident that we will be okay and continue to be in the Lord's hand through all of this. My heart goes out to those already affected and especially to those who might be affected by it soon northeast of me. I’m praying for you. It’s only been a couple of days but here’s what’s been going on.

We went to Eagle Lake on Friday and met with so many inactive Spanish members. For whatever reason, the AP’s gave that area of the ward to the English elders even though they all speak Spanish so we decided that we would all just drive down there and tear it up. And we did. I went with Elder Vaitu’u and met with so many members and they all were so happy to see us. A couple even cried seeing us come because we were answers to their never-ceasing prayers. Eagle Lake has seemingly been forgotten (maybe because the English elders can’t speak Spanish) and everyone we saw said they would be coming back to church very soon. It was amazing.

Anyerson and his daughter Kamila came to church and they are so committed to being baptized and obtaining that eternal family. They have yet to receive an answer for a date when they should get married so please, please, please keep them in your prayers. Pray for Anyerson and Angelica to receive a wedding date and to receive it soon. I have a feeling it will be sometime in August and I pray I’ll be here to see them be married and baptized. The odds are pointing to yes, but we shall see. If I do that means I will probably train a new missionary here and will have the pleasure of being in Sealy for 5 transfers which is like so much of my mission.

We found David’s records and he’s going to the temple this Wednesday with the rest of the youth! Hermana Garza is getting her patriarchal blessing soon and then she’ll be moving forward with preparing to go into the temple and be endowed. I hope and pray I am here to see that.

The hurricane reminds me of one of the go-to missionary scriptures and one that I find so overused, but I’ll still quote it here. Do what it says.

“And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.” (Helaman 5:12)

P.S. Beryl is the goofiest name for a hurricane, ever.
